Required Documentation
Once you have called and scheduled an appointment for an intake, you will be e-mailed a secure link to review and complete forms prior to your visit. Please have these forms completed and submitted at least 48 hours prior to your intake appointment.
What to expect the first visit
The intake session is primarily an information gathering session. Your intake forms will be reviewed. Your presenting concerns will be discussed, as well as the impact that your symptoms are having on different aspects of your life. If you're a parent and your child is the identified client, then time will be allotted to hear from the child and parent(s) individually as well as together to get a better understanding of the presenting issues from each perspective. The intake session is also a great opportunity to work on identifying goals for counseling.
What to expect during sessions
The purpose of individual counseling is to work collaboratively to help the client improve their symptoms which are currently negatively impacting their functioning and relationships. Rapport-building is important in creating a safe and therapeutic atmosphere that allows for vulnerability, honesty, and openness. There is no timetable on progress or dissolution of symptoms; every individual responds to counseling differently and moves at their own pace towards their counseling goals.
